Reading Scripture in Church

Here are the guidelines for reading:

• Practice the passage ahead of time
  • Even if you are filling in last minute, take time during the service to look over the passage.
• Refrain from adding commentary as you read.
  • You are not there to preach, just to read.
  • Do not even read the scripture reference, just start by reading the first verse, and just walk back to your seat as soon as you're done reading.
• Speak closely into the mic
  • So close it feels like you're about to kiss the microphone.
